Mesothelioma is Caused by Asbestos
When asbestos fibers are in the air and inhaled, they accumulate in the lungs and can penetrate the lining around the lung, called mesothelium. The more you're exposed to asbestos, the more of a chance you will develop an asbestos related disease. Most people who are exposed from time to time will not develop a disease. Through numerous exposures and breathing lots of asbestos fibers into the lungs, the fibers become lodged. The asbestos fibers than can cause inflammation and over a period of time can develop into cancerous tumors in the lining of the Lung, Mesothelium. Other affected areas may include the peritoneum - the lining of the abdomen - and the pericardium - the lining around the heart. Mesothelioma and other diseases caused by asbestos is very serious and it is advised if you suspect a problem to see a Medical Doctor who specializes in lung disease.
