Product Description
Anheuser-Busch operated large-scale brewhouses at multiple U.S. locations from the mid-twentieth century onward, running steam-jacketed brew kettles, mash tuns, and wort-heater trains at high thermal loads. According to publicly filed asbestos litigation records, Anheuser-Busch brew-kettle steam jackets allegedly used asbestos-fabric lagging on kettle shells, asbestos-containing gaskets at manways, valves, and jacket flanges, and asbestos insulation on wort-line and vapor piping. Insulation rework and gasket replacement allegedly disturbed asbestos-containing components during scheduled outages.
Workers Exposed
Brewery workers, brewery maintenance mechanics, and food-plant pipefitters allegedly serviced Anheuser-Busch brew kettles and adjacent wort piping between mash cycles and during shutdowns. Kettle-jacket lagging tear-off, gasket replacement at flanges and manways, and vapor-line insulation rework allegedly released respirable fiber into the brewhouse. Boilermakers cutting into jackets for repair work allegedly shared the same exposure zones.
