Product Description
Barber-Greene Company of Aurora, Illinois, supplied belt conveyors, feeders, and coal-preparation plant handling equipment across the U.S. coal industry. According to publicly filed asbestos litigation records, the belt-cleaner scraper assemblies, drive-head reducer housings, and heat-guarded transfer points on Barber-Greene coal-prep conveyors allegedly used asbestos fabric backing and asbestos-fiber gaskets to survive the abrasive coal fines and warm-belt conditions common at wash plants and loadouts.
Workers Exposed
Coal-preparation plant workers cleaning scraper build-up, mine millwrights rebuilding drive-head reducers, and mine electricians pulling motor covers on conveyor drives allegedly disturbed asbestos fabric and gasketing during routine service. Gasket scraping and cleaner-blade replacement allegedly released respirable fibers.
