Product Description

Body-Lock allegedly manufactured automotive body panel adhesive that, according to publicly filed asbestos litigation records, contained asbestos fiber as a reinforcing and thermal-stability additive. Panel adhesive was used to bond quarter panels, roof skins, door skins, and rocker panels to underlying structure during collision replacement and restoration work. Excess squeeze-out was typically ground flush, and residue was sanded before priming — steps that allegedly generated airborne dust from any asbestos-containing adhesive.

Workers Exposed

Auto body technicians, collision repair workers, auto body shop laborers, and used car reconditioning workers allegedly handled Body-Lock adhesive during panel replacement operations. DIY auto restoration hobbyists allegedly used the product at home during quarter-panel and roof-skin swaps on classic cars, often grinding cured adhesive with angle grinders and DA sanders inside single-bay garages with minimal ventilation.
