Product Description
California Pellet Mill (CPM) pellet mills were installed across U.S. commercial feed mills to press mash into pelletized livestock and poultry feed. According to publicly filed asbestos litigation records, the main-drive friction clutches and brake facings allegedly contained asbestos friction material chosen for the heavy start-up loads and high-inertia flywheels typical of pellet mill service. Adjustment, replacement, and grinding of these facings allegedly released respirable asbestos fibers.
Workers Exposed
- Pellet mill operators re-facing clutches during pellet-die changes
- Feed mill operators clearing choke-ups and inspecting drives
- Feed mill electricians pulling drive motors and testing overload trips
- Grain cooperative maintenance mechanics performing overhaul work
If You Ran a CPM Pellet Mill
If you operated or serviced a California Pellet Mill unit at a feed mill and later developed mesothelioma, publicly filed asbestos litigation records suggest a documented exposure pathway.
