Product Description

Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that FLSmidth (F.L. Smidth & Co.) — one of the largest global suppliers of cement plant rotary kiln systems — furnished kilns whose hot-end assemblies allegedly incorporated asbestos-fabric expansion joints at the kiln-to-preheater tower and kiln-to-cooler-hood transitions, together with asbestos-block and asbestos-fabric lagging on the burning-zone shell.

According to publicly filed asbestos litigation records, the expansion joints allegedly consisted of woven asbestos cloth reinforced with wire inserts, and the hot-end lagging allegedly used asbestos-bearing block insulation faced with asbestos cloth. Both were allegedly disturbed each time a kiln was brought down for brick relining or burner-hood service.
