Product Description
Henry Vogt Machine Company of Louisville, Kentucky manufactured water-tube boilers used aboard commercial vessels, government auxiliaries, and land-based marine applications. According to publicly filed asbestos litigation records, the boiler casings, steam and mud drums, and adjacent piping allegedly were insulated with asbestos block, blanket, and mud lagging to contain heat in the fireroom. Handhole and manhole covers allegedly sealed with compressed asbestos-sheet gaskets, and soot-blower and sensor penetrations allegedly were packed with asbestos rope. Boiler tube renewal, refractory work, and re-lagging allegedly generated airborne asbestos dust.
