Product Description
National Adhesives allegedly supplied automotive body panel adhesives that, according to publicly filed asbestos litigation records, contained asbestos fiber as a reinforcing and heat-resistance additive. The adhesive was applied to flanged panel joints — quarter panels, roof skins, door skins — to replace or supplement traditional spot welding during collision and restoration work. Cured squeeze-out was allegedly ground and sanded flush before body filler and paint, generating airborne dust from any asbestos-containing batch.
Workers Exposed
Auto body technicians, collision repair workers, auto body shop laborers, and used car reconditioning workers allegedly worked with National Adhesives panel adhesive on production repair jobs. DIY auto restoration hobbyists allegedly used equivalent consumer-package adhesives at home for panel swaps, roof-skin replacement, and rust-repair fabrication, sanding cured product with high-speed abrasive tools in enclosed garages.
