Product Description
Resco Products supplied plastic refractory, castable, and gunning mixes used to build monolithic linings for industrial furnaces, boilers, kilns, and heat-treat equipment. According to publicly filed asbestos litigation records, certain Resco plastic and castable mixes allegedly incorporated asbestos fibers to control shrinkage and cracking during heat-up and improve resistance to thermal cycling. Refractory crews allegedly cut plastic refractory into slabs from shipping cartons, hand-rammed it against anchor systems, gunned castable in overhead applications, and later chipped it out during shutdowns, allegedly releasing airborne dust throughout.
Workers Exposed
Refractory masons, furnace-relining crews, and boiler-refractory installers allegedly worked closest to Resco plastic and castable during monolithic lining work. Bricklayers assigned to industrial specialty work, kiln shutdown contractors, glass tank rebuilders, and industrial insulators finishing adjacent hot surfaces allegedly encountered the same dust during shared shutdown windows.
