Product Description

Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that Selas Corporation of America supplied refinery process burners — including burners for crude heaters, vacuum heaters, and coker heaters — with asbestos-refractory burner tile surrounding the burner throat and asbestos-fabric wind-box gaskets between the air register and the burner mounting plate. The asbestos-refractory tile allegedly stabilized the flame at the burner throat and protected the surrounding furnace floor, and the asbestos-fabric wind-box gaskets allegedly sealed the combustion-air register against negative-draft air in-leakage.

Plaintiffs alleged that Selas refinery burners remained in service across U.S. refinery process heaters from the 1940s through the 1980s, requiring burner tile change-outs, wind-box gasket replacement, and combustion tune-ups.
