Product Description
Symons cone crushers, the original spring-cone design later carried forward under Nordberg and Metso, were installed at hard-rock mineral processing operations across North America. According to publicly filed asbestos litigation records, the countershaft bearings and eccentric assemblies on Symons crushers allegedly used woven asbestos-fabric bearing seals and packing to keep out dust and retain oil. Repacking these seals allegedly disturbed asbestos fibers during scheduled crusher rebuilds.
Workers Exposed
Crusher operators, mineral processing plant workers, and hard-rock millwrights performing eccentric-bushing changes and countershaft rebuilds on Symons cone crushers are reported in publicly filed litigation records to have allegedly encountered asbestos fibers. Mill operators cleaning shed packing and mill electricians working around drive assemblies allegedly experienced similar exposure inside enclosed concentrator buildings.
